Print Obsession: Watermelon

Summer brings many great things, but my favorite would have to be watermelon. Yes, the delicious summer treat. I could probably eat a whole one in one sitting, no exaggeration. I think I’m the only person in this world who chooses to binge eat watermelon all summer to keep their watermelon cravings at bay from September-May. (Lord help my husband if I ever get married and decide to have a baby…watermelon all day everyday)

My obsession has intensified from just the fruit to watermelon everything, both literal and figural. I’ve handpicked some of my favorite interpretations below.

1 Year

Me and this blog share the same birthday (aka the most important day of the year!).  As usual, I have my eye on lots of pretty things to help me celebrate and ease myself into the quarter of a century club.  But first, thank you for taking the time to read this blog and for always checking in despite my erratic and irregular posting.  Cheers.

I’m still in the process of finishing our new apartment so this is a cross between practical and splurge worthy gifts to spoil my home and myself.  I will love you forever if you want to make a contribution!

Oh Joy! for Target

I know, yet another Target post, but they are seriously killing it (more than usual) as of late.  This new collection is too adorable not to share!  And with great price tags to boot.

I will definitely be purchasing all of these items immediately if not sooner for my new apartment!  (More on that to come).  Be sure to check out the full collection here.

Peter Pilotto for Target (!!!)

It’s hereeee!  Target always does two designer collaborations, one in the spring and one in the fall, and they are continuing their streak of awesome partnerships with Peter Pilotto!

Sometimes its hard for a high-end designer’s point of view to translate into the ready-to-wear, off-the-rack clothing us mortals are expected to buy.  This collection transcends that stereotype, so clean out your closets ladies and make room for some of these awesome pieces!

This mixture of graphic black and white prints is pure genius.  I will most definitely be scooping up that top and skirt.

BIKINI PERFECTION!

Image

I’m usually not a fan of the crop top since my mid-drift is my least favorite part of my body, but after Kerry Washington proved that you can rock a crop top at any size and after seeing this combo, I just might be convinced.

This dress!!! Get in my closet.

Image

I’m not sure I could pull this off in a million years, but I love the silhouette, pattern, and detailing.

Image

This dress is so quirky, but it will definitely make an impression.  I love the unique neckline, graphic print, and bold color palette.

And finally, this romper.  Ow ow!

Now I’m just counting down the days until this collection hits stores February 9th.  (18 days in case anyone is wondering).

Phillip Lim for Target

While summer is my favorite season and I hate to see it go, nothing gets me more excited for fall than the designer collections that start to surface in late summer.  Being “financially challenged” at this stage in my life inhibits my closet from actually containing any of these designer clothes.  This is unfortunate 90% of the time, BUT Target knows how to throw a girl a bone!  I’m only have a minor freak out over Phillip Lim’s collection for Target (yes, I will be the crazy girl in line on September 15th).  Check out a few of my favorite pieces from his lookbook.

Hi, Mom!

7.16 final

Welcome to Seven | Sixteen!  With today being my twenty-(number that shall not be mentioned)th birthday, I decided it was time to get with the times and start a blog.  Here you will find inspiration images, fashion, design, travel, movies, music, sarcasm, this and that, all curated by yours truly.

Summer is by far my favorite time of year.  Crazy, right?  Especially for a girl with naturally curly hair that does not agree with Southern humidity.  It probably has to do with the fact that my birthday is in the summer, have I mentioned that?  My birthday is the one time of year I allow myself total self-indulgence, in every sense of the word(s?), a la Tom Haverford and Donna.  Parks and Rec, anyone?

In honor of my entire birthday month (yes I give myself 31 days of celebration) I have included my “Treat Yo’ Self” wish-list below.

Birthday blog collage

1- An adorable vintage inspired dress with a modern twist.

2- I’ve been lusting after the perfect fragrance and finally found it.  I’m obsessed.

3- I am extremely accident prone/irresponsible when it comes to sunglasses  so I have been avoiding expensive sunglasses my entire adult life.  Maybe actually owning them will teach me to be responsible…maybe.

4- A new yoga mat to “improve” my practice.

5- A beautiful set of measuring cups to appear to be domestic.

6- ^Measuring spoons as well.

7- For the aforementioned curly frizzy hair.

8- A beautiful birthday card.

9- A new twist on a sexy bathing suit.  (This was just delivered to my door step last week and I’m in love!)

10- I’ve heard this is a god-send for dark circles.  Sold.

11- For as much as I love to travel, I have not seen much of North America.  This book seems like a good kick in the pants since 36-hours is a very un-intimidating amount of time.

12- An effortless maxi.

13-Some adorable wedges.

14- An adorable bikini for the beach.

15- Obsessing over this banner.

16-A classic novel in the chicest of jackets.

**Donations accepted and appreciated!

Thanks for stopping by!
